Tears of Joy by Michael Lawrence6/5/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Without missing a beat, she was dead on playing a possessed entrepreneur making all the usual mistakes of trusting everyone and having a total open mind to things most people would find weird like having her ex-husband live in her basement with her father as his roommate. In Joy's case her dad, half-sister and dad's girlfriend filed suit for control of ownership after Joy secured success from a lot of their efforts to sabotage it.Īnd what a treat to have Lawrence play this role in the story as again she shows she can brilliantly do anything she wants on a movie screen. After a 40-year battle and finally reaching the top and sitting in the big chair at the end of the movie, Lawrence playing the character of Joy let the slight frown and strained smile on her face do the talking, and it seemed to be asking, “was the success worth it?” All the financial ups and downs and bankruptcies were one thing, but Joy showed what really stings entrepreneurs and sticks in their heart is after you give, give and give more, you always have these people come out of the woodwork to lay claim they are owed something. She had to beat them and all the usual startup hurdles to be successful. The truth is some of her family members would rather have seen Joy as an unemployed, desperate housewife, than a successful entrepreneur. ![]()
